Red Dead Redemption 2, or as I like to call it, Grand Theft Stagecoach, has another gameplay video to remind us, once again, just how closely it resembles GTA.
Who came blame Rockstar Games for repeating a successful formula?
The game is beautiful (what isn’t these days?) It’s also vast and there are a lot of fun things to do. And your choices shape the person you become. None of this isn’t new.
It even has a targeting system where you can slow down time to target enemies and their weak points…. Yes, essentially the game has V.A.T.S.
So what makes this game unique?
Not a whole lot. But I will still buy this game.
The video tries to sell us on all the “unique” features. None of it is unique or innovative.
The key selling point is this world. This world is very realistically Hollywood. Yes, every Hollywood (and Italian) Western we’ve seen is thrown into Red Dead Redemption.
Train robberies, shootouts, duels, bar fights…it’s the Wild Wild West, and it’s vast and amazing.
Here’s more on his awesome world from Rockstar Games webpage:
America, 1899. The end of the Wild West era has begun. After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.
This is the Wild West. Strong survive, weak die or get bullied. If you love them Westerns, this is as close to living them…until Westworld becomes a reality, of course.
Game’s out on October 26.
