It takes 90 minutes to drive from L.A. to N.Y. Is it some new prototype Tesla super-car? Nope, it’s The Crew. Ivory Tower/Ubisoft Reflections’ new open persistent world racer is out and the launch trailer has real new gen stuff including a virtual road trip that’s probably as scenic as the real thing. The cars are gorgeous, which is a minimum requirement for a racing game, but the world is even more amazing. The potholes, the pedestrians, the faded-out street lines. Even the Santa Monica pier looks real.
You’ve got missions, co-op, faction play, car-building. All you need in a good racer. You also can’t play offline, not even the solo stuff.
And then there’s the eye-candy. I don’t know how it races, but based on the trailer, I’ll get this game just for the 90-minute cross-country on-the-road action.
It’s on Windows, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
