Halo: The Master Chief Collection — Old Games, Old Tricks

By | July 7, 2014

Every star needs a “Best Of”.  Will Ferrell has like 3 or 4 of them.  So Master Chief gets one, too.  (By the way, my brain is weird because every time I see “Master Chief”, I see “Master Chef”, and so when I play the games, I keep seeing the big guy chopping onions.)

Actually, it’s not a best of, but a bundle.  Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a compilation of all the Halo games to be played on Xbox One with “Xbox One visual fidelity and 60 fps”.  Why didn’t they simply make it possible to play old Xbox games on Xbox One?  Well, because then you wouldn’t shell out $60 to play the old games on the new console, and you wouldn’t get the “Xbox One visual fidelity and 60 fps”.  It sounds cooler than it really is – I don’t expect the same difference between the old gen and new gen in this Halo compilation as you see in GTA 5.

Easy return.  Nothing new.  I’m sure Homer had a compilation of Iliad and Odyssey.  It’s also an opportunity to lead into Halo 5 and the new Halo TV series.  All ready for the holidays.  Great Marketing!
