Looks like Ellen, talks like Ellen, moves like Ellen, but it’s not Ellen

BEYOND: Two Souls recently released with Ellen Page in varying degrees of sadness. It’s not really her. It’s her voice, her motion, and her acting…basically everything Ellen Page except it’s not really her. Willem Dafoe’s in it, too, but like Page, not really him.

The game itself looks like a bore. Choose your own adventure stuff. As a kid, I wouldn’t really read these CYOA books – the stories itself weren’t intriguing, but I would jump around and see where one choice would ultimately lead, go back and try again, repeat, and I’d be done with the book, ready to return to the library in just a few minutes. When I wanted a good story, I’d get a real book. When I wanted a game, I’d get a real game.

One BILLION Dollars!

One BILLION Dollars!

Grand Theft Auto V is the fastest entertainment property to $1 billion this year. The highest grossing film this year so far is Iron Man 3 at about $409 million. No comparison, the video game industry has got Hollywood beat in dollars but it’s not exactly apples to apples. It does make sense for some to try and combine the two and fuse Hollywood into gaming and vice versa, but when it comes down to it, sometimes I want an apple, other times I want an orange.
